Sherwood's legendary Major Oak reaches the end
The Major Oak, an estimated 1,200-year-old tree at Sherwood Forest and one of Britain's biggest oaks, is believed dead after its first spring without leaves. The RSPB, which manages the forest, attributes the decline to structural intervention, human activity and climate change impacts. The oak will remain as a monument, with saplings planted globally. | Source
