⚽️ Lady Bay Primary team playing Wembley before Notts County tomorrow
Congratulations to Lady Bay Primary School's football team who play at Wembley tomorrow, warming up the pitch an hour before Notts County face Salford City in the League Two play-off final! The Years 5 and 6 squad won a penalty shootout earlier this year to reach the EFL Utilita Kids Cup final, beating teams representing Chesterfield, Shrewsbury Town and Barrow at the Northern Region final. Unbeaten all season after winning 10 games and drawing one, head teacher and coach Steve Border calls it a "great achievement." | Source
🏢 1902 building opposite John Lewis returning to use
A 120-year-old Grade II-listed building in Milton Street is being converted into 14 city centre apartments across the second, third and fourth floors. Built 1902-1903 and designed by prominent architect John Howitt, who also created King John's Arcade and Heathcote Buildings, the five-storey structure received unanimous council approval on Wednesday May 20. Councillor Graham Chapman called it a "bit of a model" for bringing vacant properties back into use, increasing footfall and demand in the city centre. The building, valued at £2.1 million at 2024 auction, sits opposite John Lewis with ground floor retail including KFC and Bistrot Pierre. | Source

Victoria Embankment paddling pool has opened for summer, running daily 10am-6pm throughout the season. The much-loved West Bridgford splash spot returns just in time for half-term and the current heatwave, perfect timing for families looking to cool off by the river!

🥩 Unlimited steak frites for £20 at new West Bridgford cafe
Steak Frites Cafe has opened above O'Connor's Irish bar on Central Avenue, West Bridgford, offering unlimited sirloin and fries for £20. Based on the successful 1959 French L'Entrecôte model with no menu, diners receive bread and salad immediately before servers arrive with trays of constantly-cooked, rested premium sirloin available rare, medium or well done. The cafe's own green sauce made with anchovies and tarragon or classic peppercorn accompanies the meal, with outdoor seating shared with the downstairs bar.
