🚲 Up to 1,000 cyclists join DJ for drum and bass ride
Up to 1,000 cyclists joined DJ Dom Whiting and his specially adapted trike sound system last week for Drum and Bass On The Bike, riding from Old Market Square through Mansfield Road, The Embankment and the Lace Market. Whiting, who tours the UK and Europe with the event, said Nottingham felt like "unfinished business" after rain cut short a 2021 visit. Participants could walk, skate or rollerblade at low speeds. ✅ Two-week consultation on city centre face covering restrictions approved
Nottingham City Council has approved a consultation on adding face covering restrictions to the city centre PSPO (which came into force July 27). Officers could require removal if they reasonably believe it's being worn to conceal identity for crime, intimidation or harassment. Exemptions apply for religious, health and work reasons. 🧑⚖️ More than 200 positions disappearing under local government restructure
Nottinghamshire is losing over 210 councillor roles as nine councils merge into two under the biggest reorganisation in 50 years. The 408 councillors become 198 – 99 each for Greater Nottingham Council and Nottinghamshire Council. Shadow elections happen May 2027, with new powers formally transferring April 1 2028. Gedling, Broxtowe and Rushcliffe are split between the two new authorities. | Source
