✅ Young Hustlers going ahead October 25 after funding boost
Young Hustlers is back October 25 at Sneinton Market with a full programme after last-minute funding from Arts Council England and Nottingham City Council. The city's family arts festival – now in its 9th year – celebrates "Mash It Up" hybrid identities and cultural fusion with activities including Brazilian dance, Bhangra workshops, gospel choir sessions, circus skills and the annual Can Samba parade. Students from Djanogly City Academy and Farnborough Spencer Academy will perform original mash-up music with DJ Fever and Omari Marsalis (who opened Splendour this year). 💥 Maid Marian Way car park demolition underway
Demolition has started on the NCP car park on Maid Marian Way as part of the wider Broad Marsh redevelopment. Expect traffic disruption and severe congestion – the car park underpass is closed to traffic during demolition. The road layout is expected to stay in place until late October or November depending on progress. Homes England is transforming the site into around 1,000 homes plus 20,000 sq m of retail, office and community space, with the former Bluecoat sixth form college also due for demolition. | Source
🗑️ Free bulky waste collections for Nottingham residents launching October 19
Free bulky waste collections are launching October 19 for every Nottingham household. Book two free appointments per year with up to six items collected each time. Collections available for furniture, mattresses, sofas, electrical items (fridges, TVs, tumble dryers) and more. Bookings open October 19 online on a first-come-first-served rolling basis, with the first collections starting from October 26. The service helps keep neighbourhoods clean, reduces fly-tipping and ensures safe disposal of upholstered furniture and electrical items containing harmful chemicals.
