⚽️ Forest reveal ambitious 52,000-capacity City Ground plans
Forest have this week revealed revised plans for an expanded City Ground with capacity for around 52,000 supporters. The overhaul of three stands would happen in phases - first increasing capacity from 31,000 to 45,000, then adding a further 7,000 through the Brian Clough Stand redevelopment. Work could begin next summer with East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward backing the project. Official plans are due later this month, with the club hoping for planning approval next year before a full public launch. | Source
💷 Campaign to commemorate Nottingham's trailblazing female surgeon
Nottingham Women's History Group is raising funds for a plaque honouring Margaret Glen Bott, the city's first female surgeon who qualified in 1915 but had to search nationwide for a hospital that would employ women. She set up practice in 1919 at Nottingham Women's Hospital on Castle Gate, cycling across the city to appointments and emergencies. Glen Bott became a Fellow of the Royal College, magistrate and city councillor, receiving an OBE in 1961. The group is halfway to its £900 goal, hoping to install the plaque on her Regent Street home by March. | Source
🌳 Sussex Street getting £50k makeover with lighting and planting
Sussex Street is receiving £50,000 in improvements including new lighting, planting and enhanced landscaping to create a "more welcoming space" after residents reported years of problems. The investment will include weeding, rejuvenating greenery, basketball court improvements and additional lighting for nighttime safety. The council is also considering a Public Space Protection Order to prevent future issues, though no timescales have been given for the improvements. | Source
