✅ Have your say on local government shake-up by March
The government wants your views on how Nottingham and Nottinghamshire's nine councils should be replaced with two new "unitary authorities" responsible for all local services. Three different proposals are on the table, each suggesting different boundaries for where the split should happen. You can have your say in a seven-week consultation at www.lgrnotts.org until late March.
🍴 £240k funding available for public restaurant partnership
Nottingham hospitality businesses are invited to submit expressions of interest by February 10 to operate a year-long public restaurant pilot supported by the University of Nottingham. The DISHED project offers £240,000 subsidy plus research and partnership support to explore how state-supported eateries serving high-quality meals at low prices can support healthier diets, improve wellbeing, strengthen local economy and reduce environmental impact. Nottingham and Dundee are the only two British cities selected for 2026 pilots, reviving a concept that ran 2,000 UK locations from Churchill's era until the 1960s. | Source
😇 “Kindness Angels” helping the city’s homeless with care bags
Kindness Angels, including former rough sleepers, meet regularly at King Edward Park pavilion to pack care bags containing hygiene items, clothing, food and notes of kindness for Nottingham's homeless. Organiser Kerry Warwick from Sneinton started the initiative six years ago, and the group packs around 100 drawstring bags donated by Sneinton, Bakersfield, Colwick and Carlton residents, pushing trolleys through the city centre in hi-vis jackets. | Source
