💷 Nottingham awarded £925k to transform youth services

Nottingham City Council has secured £925,000 in government funding to improve youth services after being chosen as one of eight pilot areas for the Young Futures Hub scheme. The centre, based at Beaumont Community Centre in Sneinton, will bring together youth workers, education and employment support before rolling out nationally. A £125,000 grant will refurbish the space, while £800,000 funds a youth transformation programme providing coordinated support across mental health, education, employment and safeguarding. Executive member Cheryl Bernard says the funding ensures every young person has the opportunity to thrive. Switch Up CEO Marcellus Baz calls it long overdue, stressing success depends on grassroots partnerships with organisations that already have young people's trust. | Source

⚽️ Forest freeze season ticket prices after fan affordability concerns

Nottingham Forest have frozen season ticket prices for 2026-27 after a Supporters Trust survey revealed affordability concerns. The survey showed price has overtaken loyalty and emotion as the top factor when fans decide whether to attend matches, with some supporters facing difficult choices over renewals. Supporters Trust's Andy Caddell welcomed the move but noted uncertainty over which league Forest will be in next season complicates decisions. Captain Ryan Yates praised both fans for raising concerns and the club for listening during difficult times.| Source

👏 Beat The Streets raises £50,000 for rough sleepers in January festival

Beat The Streets has raised over £50,000 for Framework to help Nottingham rough sleepers, bringing the total since 2018 to £604,155. More than 58 artists, bands and poets performed across city centre venues in January, with every ticket, merch sale and drink going toward new high-quality homes in Basford with round-the-clock support. The DHP Family festival has funded accommodation, winter shelters, mental health support and street outreach since launching. Beat The Streets 2027 takes place Sunday January 3 and tickets are available now, giving access to all participating venues throughout the whole day, for the recommended donation of £20.

Food and Drink 🍽️

The latest and greatest in Nottingham’s awesome food & drink scene.

👩‍🍳 Nottingham chef Louisa Ellis returns to Great British Menu

Nottingham chef Louisa Ellis is returning to BBC's Great British Menu for a second year, creating a film-themed feast after reaching the judge's chamber in 2024 before losing to eventual champion Adam Smith. This year's competition requires chefs to create starter, fish, main and dessert dishes themed around British films, with Ellis saying the brief allowed room for creativity and storytelling. The private dining chef, who runs bespoke menu services using Michelin-starred kitchen skills, reached the MasterChef: The Professionals final three in 2017 before becoming festive knockout champion in 2020. Winners from regional heats compete in a final judged by Tom Kerridge, with dishes served at a Liverpool banquet. The central region heat airs Tuesday March 10 at 7pm on BBC2. | Source
