Nottingham officially recorded its hottest ever August day when temperatures hit 36C on Thursday, smashing the previous August record of 34.6C from 1990. This summer is on track to be the hottest since records began! July was the driest in England and Wales since 1836, and Nottingham recorded its highest-ever night-time June temperature of 21.3C. Thankfully things are cooling down slightly this week! | Source

Good timing - Victoria Embankment Paddling Pool has reopened after closing for three weeks due to a health and safety issue on July 24. The council says it's "back open and ready for some serious splashing" during the school holidays. The refurbished facility will also have Free Play with Clay sessions running 11am-1pm next to the pool. Get down there and enjoy while you still can! | Source

Gloworm Festival is returning to Thoresby Park for 2027 with early bird tickets on sale Monday. 20,000 attended the 10th edition, which has been praised as "the best one yet." Popular features rolling over include entertainment until 10pm, early campsite access and ramped-up Friday entertainment. Family camping includes three days entertainment and three nights camping.
