🎉 Hockley Hustle turns 20 next Sunday – 500 acts, one day
Hockley Hustle is back next Sunday, 25 October, for its 20th birthday. Expect 500 acts across 50 venues in Hockley and Sneinton, from a 70-piece orchestra in St Mary's Church to the Hustle parade, a world-record-chasing R&B line dance and a Saturday warm-up show. The festival was founded in 2006 with seven venues and has raised £250,000 for local charities. Get your tickets on the Hockley Hustle website!
💷 Visit East Midlands aims to add £1bn to region's economy
Claire Ward's Visit East Midlands partnership has launched a new website to boost the region's visitor economy by £1bn. The platform is designed to be a central hub that complements existing sites like Visit Nottinghamshire and Visit Derby. The big target is lifting overnight stays from 8 million to 12 million a year by 2035. The plan also draws on film connections, including Wollaton Hall (Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises) and Chatsworth House (Pemberley). | Source
✅ £30m Carlton Active leisure centre gets the green light
Plans for a £30m leisure centre in Carlton have finally been approved! Carlton Active will be built on the site of the Richard Herrod Centre off Foxhill Road, which closed in April and is being demolished. The new building will be smaller but packed with features, including an eight-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool, cafe, soft play, community room and a studio with power-assisted equipment. Start and opening dates are still to be confirmed. | Source
