⚽️ City Ground expansion approved – here's what's coming
Big news for Forest fans – planning approval's been granted for a major City Ground expansion from 31,000 to 52,500 capacity in two stages. Full permission is granted for the Peter Taylor Stand and Trent End redevelopment (taking capacity to 45,000), plus outline permission for the Brian Clough Stand (adding 7,500 more seats). The £790m project also includes a new public plaza, restaurant and improved facilities. Forest will contribute £4m+ to transport and infrastructure improvements including a potential new pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Trent. All three Nottingham MPs have backed it. | Source
🎡 Goose Fair returns September 25 - 400+ rides & new thrills
Goose Fair's back September 25 – October 4 with 400+ rides and attractions for all ages. This year's headliners: Elevate 85 (a record-breaking 85m-high ride, the tallest ever at Goose Fair), Psycho (new looping thrill ride) and returning favourite Skyfall (80m drop tower). All the classics – Waltzers, Dodgems, Gallopers, the legendary Cake Walk from 1927 – plus side-show games. New this year: opening at noon on Friday September 25 (instead of afternoon/evening) for quieter daytime visits. SEND sessions Sundays 12-1pm for kids with additional needs. Bell-ringing ceremony at noon Friday with the Lord Mayor and Djanogly City Academy choir. | Source
🛍️ Exchange Arcade getting new life with fresh businesses
The Exchange Arcade – the oldest shopping arcade in the city – is bouncing back after recent closures. Valege Lingerie, a French lingerie brand, is set to open in the former Exchange Barbers unit, while Starbucks is moving into the long-vacant Patisserie Valerie space. The Grade II-listed building off Old Market Square has seen Dunkin' Donuts leave in May and Patisserie Valerie close in 2024, but these new arrivals are a welcome boost for the historic centre with hopefully more to come! | Source

Events 📍
Our top picks of things to do this week. Have an event you want featuring? Let us know!
Sponsored by Strange Little Obsessions
Strange Little Obsessions is a curated horror and alternative culture event, bringing together dark film, art, music, storytelling and independent creators.
Held over two days at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham, the event features special guests, carefully selected traders and artists, and a thoughtfully paced programme designed to feel immersive, welcoming and accessible.
This is not a checklist convention. There’s no rush, no overcrowded halls, and no pressure to move on. Instead, expect space to explore, connect, and linger among shared interests and strange little obsessions.
Built for fans who want more than a quick autograph and a hurried exit, Strange Little Obsessions celebrates slower moments, meaningful encounters, and the darker side of culture.
Catch it Saturday 26th September - Sunday 27th September from 10:00am - 5:00pm
