🎖️ WW1 hero who won Military Medal three times honoured with estate name
A new 45-home estate in Cotgrave will be named Hayes View after Cpl Ernest Hayes, one of only 180 men out of 115,600 to win the Military Medal three times during World War One. Born in Cotgrave in 1898, Hayes served with the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on the Western Front in 1918, earning his third medal for leading his Lewis gun section through intense enemy fire on the Sambre Canal. His older brother John was killed at the Somme in 1916, making the tribute honour both brothers. Homes at Hayes View will be available from spring next year. | Source
