🏈 Baltimore Ravens open Flag Football Centre at Nottingham Girls' Academy
Baltimore Ravens have opened a Flag Football Centre of Excellence & Development at Nottingham Girls' Academy, strengthening grassroots sport commitment in the UK. NFL players Zay Flowers and LaJohntay Westler unveiled the facility alongside world champion boxer Caroline Dubois and former GB American football captain Phoebe Schecter. The new training and development centre for women comes as American football grows in UK popularity, particularly among female participants. The academy-based facility provides dedicated space for coaching and player development. | Source
🚶 May travel challenge encouraging car-free journeys
Nottingham City Council and Walk Wheel Cycle Trust are encouraging residents to go car-free throughout May, promoting walking, cycling, scooting and public transport. Starting Friday May 1, participants get online access to tips, support and personalised journey dashboards. Prizes include two Micro Scooters worth £165 each, a Raleigh Strada City Hybrid bike worth £450, and Restaurant Sat Bains' 12-course tasting menu for two worth £500, plus Broadway Cinema tickets and shopping vouchers donated by NCT, Trent Barton and NET. Anyone living or working in Nottingham can sign up solo or as teams to improve air quality, reduce congestion and boost wellbeing. | Source
⚽️ Splendour Festival showing World Cup final live on main stage
Splendour Festival is showing the World Cup final live on July 19, with England's match screened from the main stage if they reach the showdown. The screening won't clash with Snow Patrol's headline set, with all performances proceeding as scheduled at Wollaton Park. The Wombats headline July 18 before Snow Patrol close the festival on July 19. The lineup also features Primal Scream, Craig David Presents TS5, Editors, The K's and The Flaming Lips. | Source
