🏹 Public invited to shape new Nottingham Vision for city's future
Nottingham residents are being invited to help create a new vision guiding the city's development and growth over coming years. The Nottingham Vision, being developed over five months, will determine housing types, transport and digital infrastructure, and support major developments bringing jobs and growth. A short three-question online survey asks what makes people feel at home in Nottingham, what the city could offer for learning and work, and what would make it more welcoming. Council Leader Neghat Khan says the project will influence how the city develops for years to come, shaping what's built and how people access homes, jobs and opportunities. Have your say and take the survey here!
⚽️ Forest to rename Bridgford Stand after club legend John Robertson
Nottingham Forest will rename the Bridgford Stand as the John Robertson Stand to honor the club legend who died this week aged 72. Owner Evangelos Marinakis announced the tribute to provide "lasting recognition of his extraordinary contribution" after Robertson scored the winning goal in Forest's 1980 European Cup final victory over Hamburg and provided the assist for Trevor Francis's winner against Malmo the previous year. The winger also won First and Second Division titles, two League Cups and 28 Scotland caps during his career, later topping a 2015 fan poll as Forest's all-time favorite player. The stand will join the existing City Ground stands named after Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. | Source
👚 Iconic Hockley vintage shop Wild Clothing closing after 43 years
Wild Clothing in Hockley will close on December 31 after almost 43 years, with owner Rob Hague saying "the numbers do not add up any more." The iconic vintage shop has struggled with squeezed student disposable income, rising employer National Insurance contributions from the autumn budget, and competition from online marketplaces. Hague took over in 2023 because he "couldn't bear" to see it close, describing the situation as a "real tragedy" particularly for staff who've been given notice. The shop built a culture around authentic vintage clothing for customers wanting to avoid mainstream consumerism. | Source
