🏆 NCT named England's best bus operator with 94% satisfaction

Nottingham City Transport has been named England's best bus operator with 94% customer satisfaction in the 2026 Your Bus Journey survey, while Greater Nottingham achieved joint-top regional satisfaction at 93%. The independent survey of 48,000 journeys benchmarks punctuality, value and journey times, with trentbarton also reaching 91% satisfaction. NCT managing director David Astill recently received an MBE for public transport services, while driver Zohra Rani was named top national bus driver. The publicly-owned network has rolled out 62 electric buses with 19 more coming in 2026, while Nottingham maintains second-highest bus usage outside London. | Source

🚗 County council investing £122.5m in road repairs

Nottinghamshire County Council is investing £122.5 million in highways for 2026/27 as first phase of a record-breaking roads programme, though leader Mick Barton warns it's "still not enough." The six-point plan focuses on prevention, permanent first-time repairs, longer-lasting materials and extra winter crews. About 38% of county roads are in poor condition with over half of road markings poor or very poor. The investment will resurface and patch 16% of roads, with 45% funded by EMCCA and 55% from council tax and grants. The county's £400 million backlog requires about £101 million yearly "steady state" funding just to maintain current conditions. | Source

🎟️ Students muck in at Stonebridge City Farm for exclusive gig tickets

Over 50 volunteers gave four hours at Stonebridge City Farm in St Ann's on Wednesday, earning free tickets to an exclusive Tinie Tempah concert at Rock City on April 8. The RockCorps initiative uses music as incentive to encourage young people from Nottingham College and universities to help charities across the city. Farm CEO Rick Harrington says volunteers helped with painting and moving soil, emphasising the connection and belonging that volunteering can create. | Source

👩‍🍳 Table 47 chef opening speakeasy-style basement venue in West Bridgford

Nichola Thompson, chef-owner of Bridlesmith Gate's Table 47, is opening Chapter 2 in West Bridgford's former Hubble Bubble Bar location at the end of April. The £250,000 basement venue seats 60-80 diners or 200 for events, featuring speakeasy aesthetic, open kitchen, wraparound bar, cigar room and secluded courtyard. Like Table 47, which has a four-month waiting list, it offers pre-booked bespoke dining experiences with tasting menus and at-table cooking. The venture creates up to 25 jobs, and they are currently looking for private dining chefs - email enquiries.chapter2.outlook.com if this might be you! | Source
