⚽️ City Ground included in UK's 2035 Women's World Cup bid
The City Ground is one of 22 stadiums included in the UK's unopposed bid to host the 2035 Women's World Cup, with FIFA expected to approve the proposal next year. The expanded 48-team tournament would involve 104 matches over 39 days, requiring 15 stadiums across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It would be the first World Cup in the home nations since 1966! | Source
💷 East Midlands mayor announces £25m for local regeneration schemes
Four Nottinghamshire projects in Stapleford, Giltbrook, Newark and Ollerton are set to share funding from the East Midlands Combined County Authority's £25 million Investment Fund. The money will support Ollerton's high street regeneration including new business units, homes and a cinema, plus the Stapleford Pencil Works business centre receiving £320,000, nine new-starter units in Giltbrook, and the Yorke Drive housing estate redevelopment in Newark. | Source
🌳 Green Heart wins prestigious national architecture award
Nottingham's Green Heart has won the Landscape and Public Realm Project category at the Architects' Journal Architecture Awards 2025. Judges praised the "remarkably transformative effect" of the space which opened in September last year, achieving a 438% biodiversity net gain score with 34 new trees. The award also recognises the wider transformation including Central Library, bus station and Sussex Street makeover. | Source
